Man has it been cold.
Like bitter.
March is always so cold. We always get our surprise snowstorms in March.
I've probably worked from home more this year than ever.
Which is always interesting to all involved.
What'cha doing mom? |
So news...
My son turned 18 this year. When did this happen? My baby is a young man.
And today, got his braces off! Bonus.
4 years of braces. He looks so handsome now.
My husband ended up in the hospital the beginning of the year which was VERY scary. He decided to have his gallbladder removed after 8 days of being in the hospital with pancreatitis. He's feeling much better now.
We adopted a new family member in February. I'll probably never get over the loss of my beautiful Mr. Mittens (he was only five years old), but it was time to open our home to another tuxedo cat. We've never not had one and Veronica aka Ronny Two Toes joined us. She's still got a lot of trust issues and sometimes growls which has also earned her the name "Growly Girl" but with time I think she'll come around.
I've been doing a lot of patchwork. We are getting ready to visit my parents soon and I'm making a quilt with all my family's signatures on one side, and the other side will be all my husband's family. I'm using my best fabrics as this is the quilt I know will get passed down. It always feels funny knowing that you are making something with the idea that it will outlast you. Just started the blocks. Which one is your favorite?
thanks so much for sharing...
ReplyDeletealways fun to see what other quilters are up to...

I'm partial to the black and red rose block. Remind me of an oldtime garden.

That is one of my favorites too.
DeleteIt's a tie between the first block and the last block. All the blocks turned out beautifully. Kids do grow up so fast. Our only is 19, we were talking this week how she'll be 20 next year. How does that happen so fast?
ReplyDeleteYou asked about finding the pattern for the Vintage Dresses. The paper piecing patterns for the dresses is available from Craftsy. (just search on Vintage Dresses) The sashing patterns are my own design, so there is no quilt pattern, just a pattern for the blocks.
ReplyDeleteAll the blocks are great! I am partial to green, so they are my choice. It will be awesome when finished. Hope you share a pic. We have a Tuxedo cat too! A rescue and he is so different from other cats we have shared a home with.
ReplyDeleteWe raised our first Tuxedo baby when we first got our home. She lived for about 15 years. We then got Mr. Mittens and he developed a heart condition but he and I were really close (he used to hug me!). Growly girl has issues though. You can pet her about 3 times before she lets you know that's enough. I think I love her for her attitude alone!
DeleteI like all your blocks, but the last one really sings! Just love anything with dots. Good luck with your family quilt, it will be a lovely heirloom.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Great selection of blocks but the two reds are my favourite, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty colors in these blocks. I can't choose a favorite - I'm just in love with the grouping as a whole.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks but my favorite would be the yellow center surrounded by green & yellow flowers. Very springlike.
ReplyDeleteHope Growly Girl comes around soon. She looks so soft and beautiful!
Our babies grow up way to fast I agree. Your blocks look great and will make a wonderful memory quilt.
